Property developer Cedar Woods and independent power producer Zenith Energy have announced a community energy sharing network as part of a new development in one of Perthโ€™s fastest growing northern suburbs.

The joint initiative with Zenith Energy gives households within the Eglinton Village master-planned community the option to communally generate, store and share renewable energy to power their homes via rooftop solar panels and a community battery.

For no upfront cost, buyers will pay 20% less for their electricity consumption and reduce their carbon footprint by using at least 50% renewable energy.

Zenith Energy managing director and CEO Hamish Moffat said Zenith Energy, through itsย  subsidiary Eglinton Village Energy Pty Ltd (Eve), was proud to be partnering with Cedar Woods on the Western Australian first project.

โ€œThe way energy is generated, stored, and used is transforming at a rapid pace. Zenith Energy is excited to be working with Cedar Woods to deliver a microgrid to a primarily green-titled, residential estate for the first time in Western Australia,” he said.

โ€œWe are delighted to work with Cedar Woods to help them deliver their vision for a greener community, while providing energy cost savings to residents of the Eglinton Village community who choose to opt-in to the hosting of the solar PV that will supply the Eglinton Village Microgrid.

“Eglinton Village Energy is a licensed energy retailer, which ensures residents of the Eglinton Village community have the benefit of the same consumer protections as customers of traditional energy retailers,” he said.

Buyer interest has been strong for Eglinton Village to date, within the popular and rapidly growing coastal suburb located 45 minutes northwest of Perthโ€™s CBD, already selling into Stage 2 after launching earlier this year.
